2010 — I’ve been saying for a while that 2010 is officially “the future.” Doesn’t it sound like we should be in hovercrafts by now? I’m still holding out hope. Anyhow, I had a lovely night in Philly with my parents and husbo. We had some beers and apps, toasted the ball drop with bubbly, then I was off to sleep. Perfect. I’ve done every sort of New Year’s event and I tend to prefer staying at home. Yes, at 27 I’d rather hang with my parents and go to bed at 12:05. I’m not sorry about it either, haha.
Now, I’m a big fan of lists. Huge fan. Make them all. the. time. Rarely, though, do I complete more than 60% of the things on said list. I’ve come to accept that I am flawed (ahem, in a wonderful way) and that I make plans for things that in the back of my mind I know will probably not happen for a variety of reasons.
That said, here are my resolutions:
2010: The year of the fuuuuuuuutuuuuuuure
- I will…
- touch my toes. Not just a little, but really be able to put my hands on my feet (without bending my knees, of course).
- publish something (anything).
- be more thoughtful. Namely, I’ll send birthday cards a few days in advance of someone’s birthday. I’ll also return phone calls.
- find a source of income (however meager) outside of my 9-5 job. This may not necessarily be a steady or lucrative stream of income, but something.
- get a new job. It’s time to get out of here.
- get back into eating real sit-down dinners with husbo at the dinner table every night.
- AND rely even less on processed/artificial foods
- run a half-marathon in under 2 hours. My current record is 2:03.
- not look like a shlump when it’s rainy/snowy/cold outside. This involves wearing rain boots/trench coat that do not make me look like a ten year old.
- start something and see it through to the finish (see any bullet point above).
- have people over for dinner more often, for now occasion at all.
- workout when I’m not at home. For example, if I go to CT for the weekend, I’ll still find a way to workout.
There you have it! I’ll post the annual list my husbo and I make each year – it’s much more fun than good old resolutions.
What are your resolutions for the new year? Do you make resolutions?

Dry-brushing day 2: Okay, so I planned on doing it every day for 30 days. On the train yesterday I realized Oh crap, I forgot my dry-brush. So I guess I’ll do 30 days, perhaps non-consecutive. Que sera. But yes, so far smooth skin. Positive things to say.
Also, joined a gym. Deets to follow in an upcoming post.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
