Resolution Check in

Hello!

I can’t believe we’re already one month down in 2010! Seriously, where did January go? This is a pretty good time for me to reflect on my resolutions, and see where I’m headed in the next month. I’m feeling pretty good about February – the short month that I’m packing A LOT into.

Things I did in January 2010:

Here are some of the 2010 Resolutions I made, and my progress so far…

  • be more thoughtful. Namely, I’ll send birthday cards a few days in advance of someone’s birthday. I’ll also return phone calls.
    • I don’t want to check this one off yet, but I have been great about sending b-day cards out on time. Thanks to jackcards.com! Yes, this is kind of cheating, I suppose, but I’m reaping all the benefits and no one gets hurt :)
  • get a new job. It’s time to get out of here.
    • I’m almost done with the resume and all the necessary documents. I’ll start sending ‘em out this week. Here’s hoping!
  • get back into eating real sit-down dinners with husbo at the dinner table every night.
    • AND rely even less on processed/artificial foods
      • We’ve been pretty great about this one. We’ve cleared out the dining room, and have gone back to making full dinners. It also helps that I’ve delegated Tuesday night dinners to the husbo. That one night without cooking or planning makes a big difference. As a result, look for more recipes on the recipe page soon!
  • not look like a shlump when it’s rainy/snowy/cold outside. This involves wearing rain boots/trench coat that do not make me look like a ten year old.
    • I’m thisclose to checking this one off. With my new trench coat, I’m halfway there. Now I just need some rain boots. We’ll see if I spring for them this month. The only thing that is making me drag my feet (mwahaha, pun intended) is that I don’t just want any rain boots, but a very specific pair that is disgustingly expensive for rain boots. I’m almost done rationalizing the price/wear since by all accounts they last foooreeeevverrrr.
  • start something and see it through to the finish (see any bullet point above).
    • Ack! This is a really tough one for me. I started the Winter Shape Up today, and hope to see that through to the full 6 weeks.
    • I’m also planning on continuing all of the above. Here’s hoping. This is always my most difficult resolution to keep, haha.
  • have people over for dinner more often, for now occasion at all.
    • We just had some friends over on Friday night, spur of the moment, for dinner and board games. One thing that will really help us to be more of the “hang out” apartment is getting a bit more organized so there’s no mad dash Ahhh there coming over and there’s random laundry in the living room! I’m not a very organized/neat person by nature, but perhaps a few trips to the Container Store could help!

Also, as far as my quest to drop a few pounds, I’m down about 5lbs since New Years! I’d LOVE to keep this up and lose about 4-5 more this month. Slow and steady is the way to go. I hope that some weight training will help me out a bit. For added accountability, I’ll be posting pics from my workout notebook to document my fitness routine. Check the new Fitness tab for my workouts.

What are your new goals for February? What have you accomplished so far in 2010?
